Maxime Merlandi (Seconda)
He was born into the significant cultural revival of the island at the end of 70s. In 1980, he made his debut with the group A Filetta with which he had recorded 3 albums by 1987. One of the founders of Giramondu in 1992, he recorded two albums with the group. In 2000, he decided together with his accomplice for ever J.P. Guissani to create Barbara Furtuna in order to return to the origins: to traditional chant. At the same time, he is a member of the Compagnie Rassegna, a group uniting musicians coming from different Mediterranean countries. His voice and the power of his emotions seem to be chiseled specially for Corsican polyphony. His timbre with large range of nuances stands out confidently among other voices but at the same time he doesn’t overshadow other members of the group. Gifted singer, he also proves by creating the songs of the group that he managed to absorb the numerous influences that were exerted on him during his life in order to reproduce generous and promising music.
